Butte Creek Story Maps

We have begun developing story maps for Butte Creek starting with our flight with Lighthawk flight service for non-profits where we flew from the Honey Run Covered Bridge to the mouth of Butte Creek at the end of the Sutter Bypass. We will be filling in the gaps as we have time. Then maps will Butte Creek Story Maps

Floodplain Project Begins!

After more than two years of project development, design and evaluation, we have officially started the first phase of this multi-year project to restore the condition and functionality of the floodplain in lower Butte Creek Canyon on the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Ecological Reserve. This area was mined multiple times, first by large Floodplain Project Begins!

Butte County Historical Maps

Many years ago, former board member Kit Kerby passed on a couple of historical maps of Butte County that were in her office at Metagraphics. They sat rolled up for years at various FBC locations. With the new office we decided to scan them for use and the new owners of Metagraphics scanned them for Butte County Historical Maps

The Other Endangered Species – FYLF

Although it is pretty clear we love spring-run Chinook salmon an awful lot, there is another endangered creature we are quite fond of as well. The Foothill Yellow-legged Frog is a fairly regular visitor to the creek banks of Butte, however they are not easy to see. As you can see from this photo, they The Other Endangered Species – FYLF
